How to Avoid Fragmentation in Your Business

How to Avoid Fragmentation in Your Business

lean out top 10 wastes

One of the biggest areas of waste I see in coaching, consulting, and service based businesses is fragmentation or what I call the “unoptimized whole”. This is when there is no end-to-end holistic solution but instead multiple disconnected and fragmented parts that don’t fit together cohesively.

This can look like piecemealing together strategies from multiple different “experts” and finding that they don’t provide the results you expected or aren’t really in alignment with the business model you want.

Fragmentation is the 6th part of a 10-part series on the top 10 ways that small businesses are leaving massive amounts of time and profit on the table in their business.

An example could be working with 1 person for a sales strategy, and someone else for a marketing funnel strategy, and someone else for a content strategy, but without looking at the full picture of how everything integrates together and how it fits into your unique vision and supporting business model you end up with disconnected solutions.

Things can get really complex really quickly when you piecemeal together strategies, even if they’re good individual strategies. You have to work really hard to get everything to fit together and sometimes they simply never will.

Your business is like a giant puzzle and you are trying to find the right pieces that fit together to achieve the unique vision of success that you have for your business.

Each component of your business influences the others so it is important to look at your business as a whole and how each piece fits together and how things influence one another.

You want an integrated and comprehensive ecosystem for success and scale that is right for you – you don’t want one off and disconnected solutions.

What to do about it

Choosing the best and most aligned strategies for your business starts with the clarity on your long term vision and having an aligned business model. From there it’s defining how everything fits together and identifying any gaps that are slowing down or preventing the results you want.

When we work with our clients, we start by getting clear on what their vision is for their business and build their entire ecosystem for success and scale from that vision.

We assess the things they are already doing that are working well and we look for the gaps or where things don’t fit together so they can make slight 15 degree shifts in what they're doing for significantly better and more integrated results.

When you are at the stage of scaling, you want to avoid cookie cutter solutions at all costs because it is very rare that they will be in alignment for your business.

If you would like to partner with someone to eliminate unnecessary complexity and simplify and scale your coaching, consulting, or service based business, that's our specialty.
