Just Say No to Cookie Cutter Programs and Coaches

There is a running joke that a consultant's favorite answer is "it depends" - but the reality is that should always be the answer.

Because in business it does depend...

🔹 It depends on your business model
🔹 It depends on your target market
🔹 It depends on your vision and goals
🔹 It depends on your strengths
🔹 It depends on a lot of things

So beware of anyone who says they have THE answer.

Because the answer for them may not be the answer for you.

The best coaches, products, and programs give you frameworks and systems built on patterns of success that you can then make your own. They don't prescribe only one way to do something.

 

Sadly I am seeing the opposite of that in the coaching industry lately...

Have you seen the same trend I have been seeing with newer entrepreneurs and programs that feel overly "scripted," prescriptive, and cookie cutter?

I had a conversation with someone recently and she was convinced of what I should do next in my business (gotta love when a coffee chat turns into unsolicited business advice 🤦).

She was well-intentioned, but the problem was that she was convinced that what she does is the right answer for EVERY business, at every stage, in every industry.

It isn't.

And it couldn't have been any further from something that would fit my business or align with what my clients would want or need.

But instead of even trying to understand me or my business, or asking about my vision + goals, she jumped right into "you should... and I can help you!."

Um, no thanks.

And sadly, this is all too common.  So many of my clients have been sharing their frustration with their experiences working with previous coaches or in programs they participated in.

There are some amazing methods and frameworks out there, but the key is making sure they align to and can be adapted to YOUR vision + goals, and that they are right for your business model, your business stage, and your clients.
